You will therefore constantly be a few words behind the speaker.However,try not to get too far behind. .You may take note of names,dates and numbers during this exercise.However,remember that you will have very little time to do so,as you will be interpreting at the same time as the speaker is speaking.You may be better off relying on your memory. .In simultaneous interpreting,as in consecutive interpreting, your interpretation should reflect the tone and style of the speaker

This exercise allows you to become accustomed to speaking and listening at the same time. It is also particularly helpful in your second language,as it improves your pronunciation,enunciation,and speed. Moreover,repeating phrases constantly helps you retrieve them quickly when you are interpreting;if it a language is not your native language,you should shadow the passages in that language as frequently as possible to develop your fluency and phrasing. Repeat the exercise as many times as necessary,until you can shadow everything the speaker says without omitting any words
