This course is designed to provide students with the opportunity to learn the language through audio-visuals and to develop their listening, language analysis and expression skills. The course is guided by Xi Jinping's thought of socialism with Chinese characteristics in the new era and integrates moral education into the whole teaching process. Students are taught to firmly establish and practise core socialist values, and are guided to transform the knowledge and skills they learn into intrinsic virtues and qualities, with an emphasis on integrating students' personal development with that of society and the country, The teaching materials are mainly French news videos from China Radio International and TV5. The class will consist of audio-visual exercises and interpretation exercises. The teacher will guide students to consult a dictionary in order to understand new words or unfamiliar expressions, and help them to improve their sense of language and expression. Students are encouraged to discuss and question the news videos on the spot and are introduced to the deeper context in which they are presented. Each short news video will be taught for a few minutes, with one student at a time retelling and translating while others add corrections
