And through comparing crisis communication during this crisis with that during another public crisis the country encountered-the massive earthquake in Wenchuan Sichuan province in May, the article explores the experience gained and lesson learned by our country in crisis management this year. Moreover, it discusses the multiple functions of information openness and prompt, timely crisis communication in dealing with and solving crises
