故道大,天大,地大,人亦大 域中有四大,而人居其一焉。 人法地,地法天,天法道,道法自然 Therefore the Tao is great;Heaven is great; Earth is great;and the (sage)king is also great. In the universe there are four that are great,and the (sage)king is one of them. Man takes his law from the Earth;the Earth takes its law from Heaven;Heaven takes its law from the Tao.The law of the Tao is its being what it is. 人,the(sage)king or man?自然#nature!
1.2道生万物 The Tao begets all things 道生一,一生二, 二生三,三生万物。 万物负阴而抱阳,冲气以为和 人之所恶,唯孤、寡、不穀 而王公以为称 。 故物,或损之而益,或益之而损。 人之所教,我亦教之。 强梁者不得其死,吾将以为教父。 (《道德经》:第四十二章) 注意:“一”不是数目的一,而是浑然一体的混沌原始状态。“二” “三”也不是数自,而是指混沌状态的逐步分化。 冲气,冲虚之气。 教父:教育的起始

All things leave behind them the Obscurity (out of which they have come), and go forward to embrace the Brightness (into which they have emerged), while they are harmonized by the Breath of Vacancy
人之所恶,唯孤、寡、不穀 而王公以为称 故物或损之而益,或益之而损 What men dislike is to be orphans,to have little virtue,to be as carriages without naves, and yet these are the designations which kings and princes use for themselves. So it is that some things are increased by being diminished, and others are diminished by being increased. 注意: nave,the hub of a wheel轮子的中心,毂”.怀疑“穀”误为毂。 不穀:不善,王侯自谦之辞。the unkind/the unworthy
人之所教,我亦教之。 强梁者不得其死,吾将以为教父。 What other men (thus)teach,I also teach. The violent and strong do not die their natural death. I will make this the basis of my teaching
