As the physical model is intuitive and can simulate complex boundary conditions,it can provide an important guarantee for the design of marine buildings.Therefore,how to exact reproduction of sea waves and improve the experimental accuracy are concerned problems. Civil and Hydraulic Engineering Frontier Experiment Learning Logs project4■ Model test for the hydrodynamics of composite floating breakwater 1.Laboratory:The State Key Laboratory of Coastal and Offshore Engineering 2.Professors:Prof.Yongxue Wang,Prof.Bing Ren and Associate Prof.Guoyu Wang 3.Classroom:The State Key Laboratory of Coastal and Offshore Engineering 4.Content abstract The floating breakwater consists of the floating body and the mooring system.The research about the floating breakwater is in process,yet there are few successfully applied floating breakwaters.At present,there are two puzzling problems that the floating breakwater cannot apply as the permanent structure. One problem is that the floatina breakwater cannot dissipate lona period waves. To enhance the performa of wave atten nuation,the width of the floating breakwater will be increased.But it is difficult for construction and maintain,and the budget fee will be increased also.Another problem is that the mooring system will be destroyed under the long-term wave actions.The research work about the hydrodynamics of floating breakwater is important with the fast development of ocean engineering and environmental protection. This course offers the model test conducted in the wave flume for the hydrodynamics of com posite floating breakwater.The performance of dissipating waves and the mooring force are analyzed,and the potential application of the floating breakwater is discussed also. 5.Equipments (1)Wave flume. Prof.Bing Ren was supported by the Program for New Century Outstanding Talent'scheme of the Ministry of Education.She is the vice Director of Institute of Ocean Engineering of Dalian University of Technology.
