Experiences of RacismI grew up in a small suburb outside of Queenstown and therewere no other Korean kids around me. I would associate morewith Chinese and other Asians,who were alwaysminoritythere. When I was at college, I started to work as a waitingstaff at a restaurant in the city centre. I was the only non-European workerat the restaurant and onedayI realised thatthe owner/manager of the restaurant always asked me to dothemost difficult worksuchas carrying the large garbage binfromkitchen to garbagestationbackside of therestaurant.Other waiting staff, even though we were all paid same, wasnever called for that particular work. This made me feelfrustrated and angry. One dayI confronted theowner/manager on this and he said that everyone was busyand that's why I was asked to do the work.At this I had noother choice but to quit the job (Seung-min, male, 23 yearsold1.5generation)
