Oklahoma Unwanted Pesticide Disposal Program Background No Collections Until 2006. Oklahoma one of last 4 states to hold a program. The need was out there but no $$$to pay for it. This was a big concern for the Oklahoma Department of Agriculture,Food and Forestry (ODAFF)and OSU Extension (Counties and Pesticide Education). OSU PSEP

Background Continued Legislation passed in 2004 to start the program. 。 Program officially started in July 2005. A portion of pesticide registration fees,in the amount of One Hundred Thousand Dollars($100,000.00) annually,shall be dedicated for conducting programs for unwanted pesticide disposal.This amount shall be deposited into the State Department of agricultural Unwanted Pesticide Disposal Fund and shall be dedicated for this use only. A revolving fund not limited to fiscal year constraints. First collection held in Altus OK in December 2006. .15 collections have been held to date. 08 PSEP

Terms of Program All types of pesticides taken.Fertilizer coated with pesticide can be taken.No other hazardous waste such as oil,paint,etc.only pesticides. Will take unknowns but you should at least know they are a pesticide There is no cost for the first 2,500 pounds disposed of per entity OSU PSEP

No Mandatory Registration Notification done through direct mailings,web page, newsletters,newspaper ads and stories,radio. Have relied on commodity groups and trade associations for help in promoting events along with County Educators. Sites have all been volunteered Clean Harbors is the Hazardous Waste Contractor PSEP
