Virpw Drawing Hands and Feet Chapter Four:Step-by-Step Demonstration In this demonstration,I am drawing from the above photographs.I am approaching the drawing the same way that I would from the model. It is the same approach 具有版的黄刊 used in the examples in the following chapter.Drawing from photographs is in many ways more difficult than drawing from the model. The natural tendency is to copy the tones that you see in the photo. As you look at the drawings I have done, you will see that the actual tones in the photos have very little to do with how the drawing was actually done You need to focus on analyzing the ac- tion and form. Each step clarifies the form more,so that in the end the drawing should be more understandable than the model or photo. The first step is getting the gesture.Avoid trying to copy, and focus on feeling the flow of the lines. rather than copying the shapes. Drawing Hands and Feet 具有版的科 In this step,I am using simple volumes to describe the hand three dimensionally. In appearance, the hand looks as if I were drawing from a mannequin. The focus is on defining how the forms relate to each other. The contours are created by the outside edges of the forms. The shape is important and is created by the volumes, rather than the copying of the two dimensional patterns. Drawing Hands and Feet 具有版描的资科 As I start to develop the form farther, the box with its corners becomes the primary tool of analysis and description. It is very difficult to capture the subtle twists of the fingers without resorting to the simple planes of box forms Page 15
Drawing Hands and Feet 具有版描的科 As I start to render the form,I focus on describing the volumes. The tones created by the lines I am using push the sides of the form back, rather than copying the light and dark patter we see in the photos. In these drawings,I am using cross hatching primarily to describe the form,as well as to create tone.I try to make the lines conform to the contours off the surface of the forms. The emphasis is still upon clarity of volume.
