湖南人文料技学院 Hunan University of Humanities,Science and Technology Heard of that,the Government of Qing Dynasty regarded it as an infringement of its national sovereignty according to the Law of Nations written by Wheaton,the sixth section of chapter four in the second volume of that book reads:"the sea administrated by a State includes the seas hugged by long rocks and the seas along its coast within ten miles offshore,for that distance could be covered by cannon shot."So the government of Qing expressed strong opposition to(严正交涉) Prussia and forced it to release the 2 merchant ships arrested and reimbursed the estimated price of the third one. 襟近以玫远养很而保买
