一、認識風 1.什麼是颱風? 氣象學上說颱風是一種劇烈的熱帶氣旋,而熱 帶氣旋就是在熱帶海洋上發生的低氣壓。在北半球 的颱風,其近地面的風,以颱風中心為中心,呈逆 時針方向轉動,在南半球則呈順時針方向轉動。至 於颱風這個名字的來源,一般認為是從廣東話「大 風」演變而來;但據林紹豪教授的考據,可能是從 閩南語「風篩」演變而來,魯鼎梅重修台灣縣志中 有:「所云颱者,乃土人見颶風挾雨四面環至,空中 旋舞如篩」,因曰風篩,謂颶風篩雨,未嘗曰颱風也 ,閩南音篩同台,加風作颱,諸書承誤
