同©大学 Tongji University (1)Flocculation The purpose of flocculation is to form aggregates or flocs from finely divided particles and from chemically destabilized particles. Flocculation is a transport step,it brings about the collisions between the destabilized particles, and causes them to form larger particles that can be removed readily by settling or filtration. Coagulation is defined as the destabilization of particles resulting from the addition of chemicals.(different from flocculation)
